RELIABILITY CENTERED MAINTENANCE

Axis Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) deploys online monitoring, trend vectoring and FMEA to determine the proper balance of planned and unplanned maintenance.

RCM is focused on preserving overall system function. It prioritizes operation of the system as a whole. It also assesses other activities that comprise an integrated failure management strategy across the entire operation. It improves operating performance through:

  • Emphasis on the maintenance requirements of critical equipment elements
  • Extension or elimination of overhaul intervals
  • Shorter and more focused maintenance tasks with less costly downtime
  • Elimination of unnecessary maintenance actions

RCM leads to greater cost effectiveness due to:
  • No unnecessary routine maintenance
  • Prevention or elimination of expensive failures
  • Clearer operating policies
  • Longer useful life of expensive items
     

With RCM, different types of maintenance are applied to different systems and components depending on the criticality of failure of a system:

  • Proactive and predictive maintenance. By constantly monitoring the simulator, sources of impending failure are detected early on and can be corrected. This is made possible by FMEA, Age Exploration and Root Cause Failure Analysis of failure trends.
  • Preventive maintenance for parts that are subject to wear or have a known failure pattern, and for consumables replacement.
  • Reactive maintenance, applied to non-critical components where failure is unlikely or inconsequential.
