THE A TO Z OF AXIS: N FOR NON SIMULATED AREA

The non-simulated area is the part of the simulator interior that doesn’t simulate anything – hence the name. It’s where the instructor and the observer sit. Here, the priority is to minimize distractions and facilitate instruction.

The interior of the non-simulated area is in neutral light grey, with fibreglass panels on the walls and carpeted floor. There is a wardrobe and a small cabinet. The back wall has six power sockets, CEE 7/4 or country-specific.

The instructor seat and front observer seat are not aircraft seats, but more like “executive office” seating. Both are track mounted and can be positioned electrically to get the optimum field of view for the instructor and the observer. There is also a jump seat for a second observer that folds out from the rear wall. All seats are black leather and have lap belts, since the sim moves around in use. The instructor and first observer seats provide:

  • Electrical horizontal and vertical adjustment
  • Lumbar adjustment
  • Optional seat cushion heating

All three working positions are equipped with headsets. The observer and second observer hear the same sounds and noises as the instructor. All can permanently talk to each other on the headsets, unless disabled from the IOS.

It’s all functional and comfortable, as befits the purpose of this part of the sim.
